How is Incawasi funded?
Incawasi unfortunately does not receive any funding from local government and authorities, the public budget for such projects being very hard to access for recent and small projects like our own. The organization’s activities are therefore entirely financed through donations (from both volunteers and private sources), fundraising and occasional sponsors.
International volunteers living in Incawasi pay a monthly fee to the organization, which includes meals and accommodation, as well as a donation for the project. This sum contributes to Incawasi’s daily expenses (bills, material, food for volunteers and children, etc.), but it is in no way sufficient to cover the total cost of running the centre.
More about volunteering
In the past, Incawasi has also received larger donations for specific operational costs. The Rotary Club of Calgary Fish Creek has contributed twice (in 2006 and 2007) to the costs of Incawasi’s kitchen.
In 2007, the German charity “Bild Hilft – Ein Hertz fur Kinder” made a donation for construction work.
After this work, the donation made in March 2007 by the German association Schmitz-Stiftung was used to equip the new classrooms, offices, kitchen and library.
The German company “Triple A”, from Hamburg, made a donation to Incawasi for the educational costs of 2008.
More about the Sponsors
One of the founders of Incawasi, a German volunteer, founded in her hometown in Germany the “Association Incawasi – Germany”, with the sole purpose of fundraising for Incawasi’s project in Cajamarca.
Incawasi Germany periodically organizes small fund-raising events, and thanks to its networking receives private donations of all kinds from individuals, small companies, schools, etc.
Incawasi Germany also collects and transfers the donations which come from the “God-parenting program”, through which private donors cover a child’s school and health expenses for one year.
Become a Godparent
Ex-volunteers and associates periodically fundraise for the centre. In Cajamarca we also organize small events such as our Christmas fair, in which we sold jewelry and cards made by the children.
