Our Volunteers
Incawasi’s daily work is carried out largely by local and international volunteers. Our volunteers are vital to Incawasi’s mission: it is thanks to them that we can function with such a limited staff and offer our children a lot of personal attention. Incawasi is staffed by volunteers from abroad as well as local residents of Cajamarca.
These volunteers teach, play and have lunch with the children, as well as helping in a whole series of other functions (painting, repairing, fundraising, organizing activities, and so on).
International volunteers live in Incawasi and work with the children every day from 9 am to 4 pm, while Peruvian volunteers come in a few hours a week to help, as most of them have jobs or are busy studying in University.

There are generally 4-6 foreign volunteers at a time living and working in Incawasi.

Volunteers help the children with their homework and reinforce their education by helping them to improve in reading, writing, math and sciences.
Incawasi is not only schoolwork, though. On Fridays and during vacations, when there is no homework, the children are involved in various activities such as games, excursions, workshops and courses.
We periodically offer the children such activities so as to integrate their academic education with other creative and formative activities. Volunteers are strongly encouraged to propose, organize and carry out such extra-curricular activities as best suits their interests and skills. We believe everyone has something to bring to the table, and are always open to new ideas.
