A Volunteer's Day

voldayTo be a foreign volunteer in Incawasi means committing to help out in the centre from 9 am to 4 pm, Monday to Friday.
Volunteers take turns waking up at 8 am to open the door for the cook and children, as they arrive.

At 9:30, the children from the morning group receive milk and bread for breakfast, so they have plenty of energy for what the morning has in store for them.

From 10 to 12, volunteers help children with their homework, carry out activities, and try to reinforce whatever subjects they appear to have difficulties in.

At midday, the morning group is served a nutritious lunch prepared by our cook before they leave Incawasi for school. Volunteers serve lunch and eat with the children in the same dining room.

Around half-past noon the afternoon group arrives for lunch. These children also have lunch and then play until 2 pm, at which time classes start up again. Like with the morning group, the children do homework, activities and educational reinforcement (spelling, reading, math exercises, etc.).
At 4 pm, before leaving Incawasi, the volunteers serve the children a milk and bread snack to give them strength for the rest of their day.
