Incawasi’s daily work is carried out largely by local and international volunteers. Our volunteers are vital to Incawasi’s mission: Thanks to them we can function with a small staff and still offer our children individual attention.
These volunteers teach, play and have lunch with the children, as well as help with other tasks such as painting, repairing, fundraising and organizing activities. There are generally 4-6 foreign volunteers at a time living in Incawasi and working with the children every day from 9 am to 4 pm. Peruvian volunteers come in a few hours a week to help, as most of them have jobs or are college students.
Volunteers assist the children with their homework and reinforce their education by helping them improve their reading, writing, math and science skills. However, Incawasi is about more than just schoolwork. On Fridays and during vacations, when there is no homework, the children are involved in activities such as games, excursions, workshops and courses. Volunteers are strongly encouraged to propose, organize and carry out such extra-curricular activities as best suits their interests and skills.
We believe everyone has something to bring to the table and are always open to new ideas.
